This document will give some advanced instruction and troubleshooting methods when you are having issues connecting with the cloud desktop. So let’s get started!

Alternate Method #1: Downloading a .RDP file

(This feature applies to all versions of Windows, does not work for Mac OS)

***************************************************************************************************

If you are having connection issues with your current .RDP file icon you may need to "refresh" your icon by deleting it, then logging into http://connect.hostmyit.com and downloading a NEW .RDP file.

***************************************************************************************************

NOTE: This requires Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox (Internet explorer will not give you the save option because it uses an automatic plugin)

1. Using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox navigate to http://connect.hostmyit.comIt is a good idea to bookmark this website as you will be going to it quite frequently. When you get to the site, enter your email address and password to login. If you have not changed your password, the default password will be given to you by the migration engineer.

Tip: If you select “this is a private computer” the window will stay open longer before automatically logging out.

2. Once you log in, Click on the app to download the .RDP file.

3. This file will most likely be saved in your default Downloads folder. Click on the file that downloaded file to launch the remote desktop or if you want to make a copy on your desktop follow the steps below.

IMPORTANT TIP: Once downloaded, this file can be copied to your desktop (and renamed) for quicker access.

4. To open your Downloads folder , click on the small down arrow next to the icon that just download and Click 'Show in Folder'.

5. When your Download folder opens, Right Click on the highlighted .rdp file that was just downloaded and choose 'Copy'. If you do not see the file Click 'Date Modified' tab to sort by the most recent downloaded files. You may have to click twice to sort the most recent downloaded file to the top.

6. Minimize or Close any windows to get back to your Windows Desktop. Once there 'Right Click' on an open area of the desktop and choose 'Paste'

7. The "new" RDP file can now be 'Double-Clicked' to connect to your Hosted Cloud Remote Desktop. You can also rename it by Right Clicking and selecting 'Rename' if you choose to.

8.Click the connect button to accept the default Windows warning message

9. You will be required to enter your email address and password again if you are logging on for the first time.
